Biography

Dora Karas comes to the CEAV Institute with over 30 years of teaching experience in the Secondary sector. She is a professional member of ACCE and an active committee member who has worked as a professional Career Development Practitioner for more than 15 years delivering career and pathway education and counselling.

She has held a variety of positions throughout her career within an educational environment: -

  • Pathways/Careers & Subject Selection Consultant
  • Head of Senior School; VCE Coordinator& Assistant Coordinator
  • Teacher of VCE Physics and Chemistry, Science, Mathematics
  • Senior Retreat Leader, 11/12 & Pastoral Leader

Dora has developed Career Education programs within schools, focusing in creating an environment where a school community can work together in assisting, guiding, and enabling students and parents to best meet the challenges in making decisions related to their development and career choices in their lives.

She has extensive experience in preparing and delivering programs over the years: -

  • train-the-trainer programs on “Engaging teachers & non-teachers to canvass career conversation with students”, charging trainers with skills, information, and presentation packages for school
  • “The School for Excellence (TSFX) – Planning for Transition courses and career planning”, focusing on helping Year 10, 11, 12 students prepare for future courses in tertiary education & post-secondary options

Dora has witnessed how the significant and lasting benefits of a well-integrated and comprehensive careers development program within an education setting has had on the lives of students, their families, and the wider community. She is committed to bringing these insights and enhancements to the development of the CEAV Institute programs and its delivery of services to its members, the Career Development profession and community.

She has been an active member over the years, in a variety of interdisciplinary committees: -

  • Pathways Team – involved with focusing on individual student program, subject selection and learning pathway options for students
  • Teaching & Learning Team – involved with focusing on the development and learning program of Curriculum and guidelines of Victorian Education Department.
  • School Improvement Framework (SIF) Review & Planning Group – involved with the aim of developing strategic plans and enhancing the support action plans for the school and leaderships team considerations

Dora is passionate in further building and growing the CEAV institute, into a centre of excellence in teaching and learning and continue to keep the RTO within industry best practice in its services in career development.

Dora values the importance in working closely and forging strong partnerships with her team of Trainers and Assessors, Careers professionals & industry experts, Learners, and the wider community. She is keen to leverage off her extensive practical experience in Career Counselling, Training and Development and believes her expertise together with strongly partnership with her team of Trainers and Assessors, Careers professionals & industry experts will advance and continue to grow the CEAV as it continues to offer practical and expertise services to the community.
